Angkor

Angkor is very big, the temples great and the weather hot... During 3,5 days we visited the temples here around Siem Reap. Angkor Wat, the most famous one, is only one of many which can be found in this aera. There are so many, that we still haven't seen all of them, but at least the most interesting one's. The distances from one temple to the other is so big that it's not recommand to walk, 3 days by Tuktuk were comfortable and one by bicycle which was very nice, but sweaty...
Siem Reap, the town closest to the ruins, is full of tourists and only getting up early can avoid being surround of people. Sunset and sunrise is very beautiful, but too early, already before 6 o'clock it starts...
Well, enough temples at the moment, tomorrow we are going to Kratie, which is on the Mekong river.

Cambodia

Sorry for the delay, but after some internet and computer troubles, we were finally able to publish all.

After the national park visit, we continued on Thursday by bus to Nang Rong (close to the Cambodian boarder). In the afternoon Simon went by motorbike to the Phanom Rung Historical Park to see the Prasat Hin Khao temple. This temple is the most impressive one of all Angkor monuments in Thailand and is located atop an extinct volcano.
On Friday we went on by bus to Aranya Prathet, the main boarder station between Thailand and Cambodia. We crossed the boarder without problems, the visa for Cambodia we had already got before. So, we arrived in Poipet, on the Cambodian side, and there it was a bit more complicated. All tourists were put in a free shuttle bus to the “tourist bus terminal”, every tourist (individual or group) got a Cambodian supervisor who took care about us that we wouldn't leave the terminal... The buses which leave from this tourist bus station are expensive (more than double price of the normal one) and the money exchange also bad for tourists. But this wasn't the real problem, as we couldn't escape, we bought a bus ticket to the next town (Sisophon) and more or less quickly we were in a bus. Then it started, the bus didn't want to leave, the people there always told us in a few minutes, but first it had to be full. Well, compared with other tourists we were lucky, some had to wait up to 3 hours... Finally the bus managed to get out of this terminal, but after a few meters drive we had to stop again, reason unknown. After spending a long time in the bus, we finally arrived in Sisophon. As it was already late, about 6 pm, we had the next problem, that no bus was going to Battambang, the place we wanted to go. We then found a shared taxi, which was of course also overcharged for us, and we had a “nice” drive in the dark with a lot of traffic, which wasn't always very save. Additionally the car had also a small problem, but this one could be fixed within a few minutes. Anyway, we arrived well and better late than never in Battambang.
On Saturday we relaxed and in the afternoon we went around the center, but there isn't a lot to see, some French colonial houses are the only interesting things.
Yesterday we went to some places around Battambang to visit 2 temples on hills with quite steep steps to go up, but finally we arrived on the top and the view was great (the temples more or less). We also went on a ride on the famous bamboo train here which was quite funny.
Today, Monday, we took a bus to Siam Reap or better known as Angkor, the most interesting place in this country. Tomorrow we are going to visit the temples here around, it's full of them!

Khao Yai National Park

Bé, ara fa uns dies que no escribíem. Dimecres i dijous vam estar al Parc Nacional Khao Yai, el parc més gran intacte sense interrupcions de Tailandia. L'experéncia ens ha encantat!!! Si tenim prou diners a la tornada a Tailandia hi pasarem uns dies més. És una jungla amb un munt d'animals!!! Ha sigut molt guai!! ja us ho explicarem amb detall, o podeu traduir de l'alemany del Sisi, jejeeje. En resum, resumit: Vam vaixar a una cova amb aranyes i ratpenats, vam anar a una vall a veure sortir uns 3 milions de retpanats d'una altre cova al vespre (triguen 1h en sortir, peró després de mitja ja ens havíem descontat i vam decidir marxar, jeje...) Micos, antílops, un réptil que crec que es diu Barano, (de la mida d'un cocodril més o menys) i vam sentir un ós en front nostre, però el guia va decidir que no era una bona ideia anar a saludarlo, jejeje...no se per què...Malhauradament dels elefants només en vam poder veure els molts regalets que van deixant per tot arreu. Vam anar a les cascades que surten a la peli “The Beach”, una mica minses ara que encara no plou gaire... Bé, ara podeu seguir lleguint la part en anglés, ja estem a Cambodia.

Am Dienstag und Mittwoch waren wir im Khao Yai Nationalpark (zwischen Ayuthaya und Nakhon Ratchasima (Khorat), gemäss Reiseführer dem grössten intakten Monsunwald auf Asien's Festland. Von Ayuthaya fuhren wir mit einem Rapid Train (der bei uns als langsamer Bummelzug gelten würde) nach Pak Chong. Von dort aus gingen wir am Dienstag Nachmittag auf eine organisierte Tour, zuerst zu einer Quelle wo man schwimmen kann, danach zu einer Höhle, die auch als buddhistischer Tempel genutzt wird und in der es grosse Spinnen und Fledermäuse gibt, und zum Schluss auf ein Feld, wo pünktlich zum Sonnenuntergang aus einer Höhle auf einem Hügel eine unendlich lange Schlange von Fledermäusen ausflog auf Futtersuche. Dieses Schauspiel geschieht jeden Tag, kurz vor Sonnenuntergang, und dauert ungefähr eine Stunde! Während dieser Zeit fliegen zwischen 2 und 3 Millionen Fledermäusen aus dieser Höhle heraus, im Formationsflug, es hört nicht mehr auf, es ist dannn eine schwarze Schlange in der Luft zu sehen, die sich dort windet! Nach 30 Minuten fuhren wir wieder zurück, wir verzichteten darauf zu zählen, ob es nun 2 oder doch eher 3 Millionen sind...
Am Mittwoch morgen ging es früh los, wieder in einer Tour und einem Guide fuhren wir in den Park und suchten zuerst Tiere. Wir sahen Wildschweine, verschiedene Affen, verschiedene Rehe, ein grosses Reptil am Fluss (den Namen kenne ich leider nicht), Schmetterlinge, Vögel, etc. Wir hörten einen Bären, der ziemlich Nahe war, aber leider gingen wir ihn nicht suchen, sondern der Führer änderte darauf schlagartig die Richtung... Ausserdem würde es in dem Park Tieger und Elefanten geben, aber ausser riesigen Haufen von Elefantenkot, sahen wir leider nichts von denen. Wir marschierten quer durch den Wald, der wie ein Regenwald ist, aber zur Zeit wahrscheinlich relativ trocken, da es schon lange nicht mehr geregnet hat, gingen zu einem Wasserfall (der auch im Film „The Beach“ vorkommt) und fuhren mit dem Auto auf einen Aussichtspunkt, auf 1200 Meter ü. M. Auch ohne Elefanten war dieser Ausflug sehr interessant!

Ayuthaya

Ayuthaya is an old capital of Thailand and is on an island, which is quite big. Today we visited some temple ruins, there would be many to see, but it was again so hot that we just went out for a few hours, the rest of the day we stayed in the hotel. Compared with the temples in Bangkok, these one's here are older and as mentioned before often ruins. So instead of seeing everything covered with gold and other glint materials, the temples are brown and dirty... as after the war when they were destroyed.
Yesterday we went on a boat trip around the island with some stops to visit temples and the night market. Ayuthaya was once the capital, but now it's more like a big village; the temples are wide spread, not a lot traffic and also the places to eat and sleep are all together.
Tomorrow morning we are going to Pak Chong (a bit more to the east) where we are visiting the Khao Yai National Park.

Bangkok

Eis!! Desde fa 3 dies estem a Bangkok, fa bon temps peró mooolta calor i mooolta humitat. Cuan vam deixar Hong Kong, ara fa 4 dies, vam tenir la gran sort que els seients de clase turista estaben esgotats i ens van posar a bussines class,genial!! molt mejar, beure i seients amples amb massatge!!! A Bangkok hem visitat el Palau Reial, un temple amb un buda dret de 38 metres d'alçada, el temple amb el buda estirat de 46 metres Wat Pho i un temple amb unes torres en espiral que es diuen Praang de 82, suficients coses en aquesta ciutat. Molta polució i no gaires atractius. El Simon també ha volgut anar a visitar el Museu Nacional, jo m'he quedat de cangur del Fredi, jeje. Vam fet una excursió als afores, prop de Myamar, per visitar un mercat flotant, peró la majoría de coses que podíes trobar eren turistes i mes turistes... la impresió no va ser gaire bona. Després vam anar a visitar una mena de reserva de tigres, li diuen “Tiger Temple” són tigres en captiveri peró tenen molt terreny per correr. Només es pot visitar a les hores més caluroses del dia, cuan el sól és més fort i fà més calor, suposadament perqué els tigres estàn mes mansos Jo segueixo pensant que els droguen, peró ens van donar un munt d'explicacions demostrant el contrari, bé, no sóc bióloga i poder és veritat... Els tigres no se si realment estaben mansos per la calor, peró nosaltres estabem morts. Després tornant vam parar a veure el famós Pont sobre el riu Kwai (tothom té la imatge del pont, peró ningú no ha vist la peli, jajaja)
Demà encara estarem per aquí rondadant, aquí també celebren l'any nou chinés, bé suposem que no faràn una festa tan gran com a china peró hi anirem a treure el nas. Passat demá canviarem de ciutat i anirém a Ayuthaya, una mica al nord.

Seit 3 Tagen sind wir nun in Bangkok, das Wetter ist gut, aber mega heiss und feucht. Als wir vor 4 Tagen Hong Kong verliessen, bekamen wir einen gratis Business Class upgrade für den Emirates Flug!! Gutes Essen, Wein, Drinks und einen Sessel aus dem man ein Bett machen kann und die Massage auch gleich mit dabei ist. Leider dauerte der Flug nur 2,5 Stunden...
Am ersten Tag in Bangkok mussten wir zuerst einmal ausschlafen nachdem wir um 1.30 Uhr im Hotel angekommen sind. Danach besichtigten wir den Palast und einen Tempel mit einem etwa 38 Meter hohen Buddha.
Gestern machten wir einen organisierten Ausflug zum “Floating Market”, etwas ausserhalb von Bangkok, der war aber so überlaufen von Touris, dass nur Souvenirs angeboten wurden. Danach fuhren wir zum “Tiger temple” und wie der Name es sagt, gibt es dort richtige Tieger und die kann man anfassen!! Das sind richtige Schmusekätzchen, weich und zahm, zumindest waren sie in der Mittagshitze so faul, dass sie sich nicht rührten (gemäss Angaben der Mönche im Tempel werden sie nicht unter Drogen gestellt). Da auf dem Rückweg Kanchanaburi auf dem Weg lag, machten wir dort noch einen Stop um die berühmte Brücke über den Fluss Kwai zu sehen. Der Film (The bridge on the river Kwai) ist weit bekannt, zu sehen gibt es allerdings nicht viel, wohl eine Brücke, die ist aber weder lang noch hoch und auch der Fluss darunter ist nicht weiter spannend.
Heute besuchten wir 2 Tempel hier in Bangkok (den Wat Pho mit einem 46 Meter langen liegenden Buddha und den Wat Arun mit einem 82 Meter hohen Praang, Spirale), das Nationalmuseum und machten eine Bootsfahrt auf dem Fluss (Nam Mae Chao Phraya).
Zum Glück hat das Hotel eine Klimaanlage, denn auch in der Nacht ist es noch so heiß, dass man nicht richtig schlafen kann. Von nun an wird uns die Wärme wahrscheinlich begleiten während der ganzen Reise.
Morgen werden wir noch einen weiteren Tag hier in Bangkok bleiben, es ist “Chinese New Year” und wir werden in der “Chinatown” sehen, was so los sein wird. Am Sonntag werden wir dann nach Ayathaya (etwas weiter im Norden) weiterreisen.
